Open Broadcasting Software (OBS) is a free and open-source software for streaming and video recording.
To set up your OBS and start streaming on Cherry.tv, follow the steps listed below.
Download OBS Studio
Get your RTMP and OBS Token from Cherry.tv
Configure your OBS settings
Setup your camera in OBS
Start (or end) your stream
Download OBS Studio
Please download the latest OBS release from: https://obsproject.com/.
Get Your RTMP and OBS Stream Key from Cherry.tv
Click on the Broadcast link on the top left side of Cherry.tv.
In the streaming window, click on the OBS tab, then click the button that says Get RTMP / Token Info.
Copy the Server URL and Stream Key as you will need these later.
Configuring OBS
Please follow this detailed step-by-step guide to configure your OBS software and start streaming on Cherry.tv.
1. Open your OBS software and click on Settings.
Note: You may need to allow OBS to access your microphone and camera. Click OK to grant access.
2. Click on Stream on the left-side menu.
3. Click on Service and select Custom...
4. Click on Server and paste the Server URL provided by Cherry.tv on your broadcast page.
5. Click on Stream Key and paste the Stream Key provided by Cherry.tv on your broadcast page.
6. Click on Output on the left-side menu
7. Under Output Mode, select Advanced
8. Choose a Video Encoder (if you are unsure of which to choose, use x264). If you have a faster PC with a graphics card, you may choose to use a hardware encoder such as H.264. Optimal settings for each will be provided below.
9a. If you chose x264 for your Video Encoder, please use the following Encoder Settings:
Rate Control: CBR
Bitrate: 3000 Kbps
Use Customer Buffer Size: Unchecked
Keyframe Interval: 2 s
CPU Usage Preset: veryfast
Profile: baseline
Tune: (None)
x264 Options: bframes=0 threads=6
9b. If you chose H.264 for your Video Encoder, please use the following Encoding Settings:
Rate Control: CBR
Bitrate: 3000 Kbps
Keyframe Interval: 2 s
Preset: P3: Fast (Low Quality)
Tuning: Ultra Low Latency
Multipass Mode: Two Passes (Quarter Resolution)
Profile: baseline
Look-ahead: Unchecked
Psycho Visual Tuning: Checked
GPU: 0
Max B-frames: 0
10. Click on Video on the left-side menu
11. Select a Base (Canvas) Resolution of either 1280x720 (for 720p streams) or 1920x1080 (for 1080p streams).
12. For Output (Scaled) Resolution, choose the same as you did in the previous step.
13. Under Common FPS Values, choose 30.
14. Click OK.
Setup Your Camera in OBS
1. Click on the + button under Sources.
2. Choose Video Capture Device.
3. Press OK.
4. For Device, choose your webcam.
5. Click OK.
6. To fit your video to the size of your screen, right click on your video, click Transform, then Fit to Screen.
Start (or End) Your Stream
1. To start your stream, click on the Start Streaming button.
2. To end your stream, click on the Stop Streaming button. NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON, YOUR STREAM WILL CONTINUE TO BROADCAST, EVEN IF YOU HAVE CLOSED THE CHERRY.TV WEBSITE!!!
